Timescales for making payments from Your Account
This section explains the time it takes for payments to be taken out of Your Account.

When You take cash out at the Bank or cash machine in the UK using your Card, the money will normally be taken out of Your Account on the same day. When You take cash out at a cash machine outside the UK,
    it may take longer.

When You make a payment using a Card in the UK, the money will normally be taken out of Your Account immediately. When You make payments using a Card outside the UK, it may take longer. If there is money in Your Account and your account earns interest, when money
is taken out it will cease to earn interest.

    Order of transactions
We do not have to carry out transactions on Your Account in any particular order.

    Stopping payments
This section explains when You may request to cancel a payment.
    You cannot stop payment if:

  • The payment has been made by debit card
  • The payment has already been taken from Your Account
  • You have made a commitment that the payment will be made to the payee or their bank.
  • If You have made arrangements with a retail or service organization (the originator) whereby the originator charges regular payments to Your debit card (recurring transactions) and You wish to cancel the arrangement You must tell the originator. We recommend You keep proof of cancellation.

Using Your Card to withdraw cash at cash machines
If We have given You a Card that allows You to withdraw cash
    at cash machines:
You may use Your Card at cash machines connected to the MasterCard network. A fee may be payable as shown in Our Rates and Fees Information.
It is possible to exceed Your Overdraft Limit or incur an overdraft (when You do not have an Overdraft Limit in place) when you withdraw money at a cash machine. If You did this You would incur the relevant overdraft fees. For this reason We recommend, that You check Your balance before making a withdrawal.
You may not take out more than the cash withdrawal limit for Your Account each day using Your Card. We will tell You what the daily limit is when We send You Your Card. This limit may be changed by Us from time to time.
A fee may be payable for purchases of foreign currency or travelers cheques at any outlet that provides foreign currency.
A fee may be payable for cash withdrawals at a cash machine in the UK or abroad as set out in our Rates and Fees Information.

If We have given You a Card that allows You to pay for goods
    and services:
You may only use Your Card at retailers and suppliers who are able to accept the Card
We do not have to authorise any transaction made using the Card. When We decide whether or not to authorise a payment, We may take into account any transactions that We know about where the money has not yet been taken out of Your Account. It is possible to exceed Your Overdraft Limit or incur an overdraft (when You do not have an Overdraft Limit in place) when using Your Card to pay for goods or services. If You did this You would incur the relevant overdraft fees (see Our Rates and Fees information). For this reason We recommend, that You check Your balance before You use Your Card in this way.
We will convert a foreign currency card payment on Your Account into pounds sterling on the day We take the payment out of Your Account. The exchange rate We use is a combination of the rate set by MasterCard and a percentage added by Us as set out in Our Rates and Fees Information.
We reserve the right to restrict spending limits on the card,

Please note that We may place limits on the funds that can be withdrawn from ATMs in certain countries. These measures are necessary to prevent fraud. You can still use Your Card at a Bureau de Change or other bank Branches when abroad where the MasterCard Acceptance Mark is displayed. A fee may be payable as shown in Our Rates and Fees Information.

If a retailer is responsible for refunding a card payment to You We will only add the refund to Your Account if the retailer tells Us to. If You have a dispute with a retailer or a supplier of services, You must still pay Us the amount of any money You have paid to the retailer/supplier if We ask You to.

Using Your Card to take out cash at the Bank or other places
If We have given You a Card which allows You to withdraw cash,
You may do so subject to any limits on the amount withdrawn, the frequency of withdrawals or any fees for withdrawal that We tell
    You about.

    Disputes with retailers
If you have any disputes about purchases made using your Card, you should settle these with the person you bought the goods or services from.
